MetroGel Review

MetroGel 1% is a Rosacea treatment which is strongly recommended to be used under the guidance of a dermatologist (skin doctor). The gel is designed to manage common symptoms associated with Rosacea. According to the MetroGel website, the product is in fact proven to “provide a 71% decrease in inflammatory lesions after 10 weeks of treatment”. The gel is applied topically on the infected areas as part of a daily regimen, unless instructed otherwise by your dermatologist.
MetroGel Side Effects
Like Roaccutane, a dermatologist- prescribed acne treatment, MetroGel may cause some side-effects. The most common is skin dryness, so it may pay to invest in a good moisturizer and lip balm. Other side-effects include itchiness, scaling, and a burning sensation. Listing these side-effects doesn’t intend to turn you off in buying the gel, however, we are highlighting the importance of working under the eye of a dermatologist. Please note that there are also two types of Metrogel, the other one is the 0.75% gel, which is typically applied twice per day. MetroGel 1% consists of a higher dosage of metronidazole (an antibiotic used to treat infections).
MetroGel Dermatologist Choice
MetroGel is manufactured by Galderma Labs, a leading choice by many skin doctors and Rosacea sufferers. Until a permanent cure for Rosacea is found, MetroGel is the strongest formula on the market. MetroGel may come at a high cost, (depending on your health coverage) when the fee for a dermatologist consultation and the price of the gel are combined.
MetroGel Price
At the time of this review, MetroGel retails at $220 for one tube at drugstore.com. When bought in bulk, customers can save up to 10%.
Overview: MetroGel is certainly not as accessible as many Rosacea creams. If you can’t afford to purchase MetroGel, then it may pay to consider a treatment which can be purchased online. If you suffer from extreme Rosacea, it’s probably best to discuss your options with a dermatologist.
